The HTM71 S3 now features Tweeter-on-Top technology, ensuring perfect integration with similarly equipped 700 Series models in a surround sound system.

The 700 Series features the latest generation of our iconic Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing. Its new, more elongated form incorporates a longer tube-loading system to produce an even more free and open sound with high frequencies. The carefully decoupled housing is milled from a single solid block of aluminum to better resist resonance.

Carbon dome tweeters are purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminum double dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.

Thanks to its composite construction, the Continuum™ cone avoids the abrupt transitions in behavior that can impair the performance of a conventional drive unit. The result is a more open, neutral performance that delivers voices and instruments with precision and transparency.

Every three-way loudspeaker in the new 700 Series has a dedicated midrange cone using four key Bowers & Wilkins technologies: the Continuum cone, FST™, Biomimetic Suspension and midrange decoupling, the latter ensuring minimal interference from the operation of the loudspeaker’s bass drivers.

Developed using advanced computer modelling techniques, the Aerofoil™ Profile bass cone has variable thickness, providing stiffness and rigidity where it’s needed most. The result: deep and dynamic bass.

HTM72 S3 is the more compact center-channel speaker in the range, bringing superior dialogue clarity to the home theater experience.

The XCS1.5K Center Channel Loudspeaker is an important piece of the puzzle to create a cinematic, immersive experience in a home theater system that uses our XRT2.1K or XRT1.1K Floor Standing Loudspeakers as the front left and front right speakers.

The Center Of An Unrivaled Home Theater Experience

The center channel speaker is a critical component in any home cinema system as a vast majority of dialog and other key sounds in a movie or television show emanate from the center speaker – thus making it essential that it produces a high quality, clear sound. The XCS1.5K has been meticulously engineered for this exact purpose.

It's also important that your center channel speaker works in perfect harmony with the front left and front right speakers so that sounds can seamlessly move from side-to-side across all three front speakers without any unwanted changes to the sound characteristics. For this reason, the XCS1.5K has been voiced to match both the XRT2.1K and XRT1.1K, ensuring proper timbre of vocals and instrumentals as the sonic image moves across the virtual stage in front of you.

The XCS1.5K features a line array design similar to the XRT2.1K and XRT1.1K where the midranges and tweeters are installed in an array mounted forward of the woofers, but the line array on the XCS1.5K is shorter and the drivers are operated in a hybrid Bessel alignment. This alignment provides even sound coverage for the shorter line array on the XCS1.5K and is the reason why there is not a more uniform layout of midranges and tweeters.

The XCS1.5K is rated to handle 1,500 Watts of power and is a unique hybrid design of both a 3 and 4-way speaker. For low frequencies, it has four 8" long throw carbon fiber sandwich cone woofers housed in the vented bass cabinet. All four woofers will reproduce low frequencies but if needed two of them will extend to slightly higher frequencies until reaching the crossover point where the (14) 2.5" aluminum midranges take over. The midranges are located in the line array along with (25) 3/4" dome tweeters. The careful selection of the speaker drivers based on their performance attributes, the placement of the individual drivers, and the detailed crossover design result in a uniform and wide sound field. This means that even if you are not sitting directly centered on the speaker you will still be able to clearly hear every sound coming from the center channel.

The speaker grilles feature black knit cloth with high gloss trim; if you prefer to have the drivers visible, the grilles are easily removed via their magnetic fasteners.

The XCS1.5K can also be tilted in its base to one of five preset angles so the speaker can be optimally aimed towards your listening position, giving you more control over the speaker and how to set it up in your home.

The crossover networks used in the XCS1.5K are phase matched between the low frequency, midrange, and high frequency sections to ensure a smooth frequency response over the entire audible range. The crossover inductors were selected so they will not add audible distortion, while the network capacitors are film type for extra reliability. All the capacitors and inductors were chosen for high current capacity; the midrange and tweeter sections use auto-resetting over-current devices to provide an extra measure of protection.

Three sets of our Solid Cinch™ speaker binding posts are located on the back of the XCS1.5K. These patented speaker connectors will securely attach the speaker cables to the speaker. Separate pairs of binding posts are available for the mid/high, low, and subwoofer frequencies to allow for bi- or tri-amping or bi- or tri-wiring.

Like the XRT2.1K and XRT1.1K, the XCS1.5K bass cabinet is finished with 7 layers of high gloss piano black paint and has touches of brushed and black aluminum. The line array features hints of the classic McIntosh front panel with a black center section and silver trim. It is suspended in front of the bass cabinet via steel spiders that are inspired by modern skyscraper construction; they are capped with magnetic covers that mimic the look of McIntosh control knobs. All of these luxurious design features result in a cohesive family of front left, center, and right channel speakers in your home theater that will not only sound amazing but will also be the envy of your friends and guests.

Made by Focal in France, the Aluminum/Magnesium TNF tweeter with inverted dome delivers a clear and mellow treble. The surround linking the dome to its stand uses a memory foam material called Poron. Our engineers have revisited their choice of ‘Focus Time’, which corrects speaker alignment, making them the same distance from the ear. The cabinet is made in one-piece integrally moulded wood. The Zamac base also brings out masses of character. With its spikes and cups, the base provides great stability from a very small footprint. Final details: the glass-covered top and magnetic grilles. When these are removed, they reveal the speakers' flax cones, the final design touch that gives Kanta its unique look.

Patented McIntosh Solid Cinch™ speaker binding posts allow for a simple yet secure connection to your speaker cables, helping to ensure the best possible audio performance. The McIntosh Low Frequency Loudspeaker Elements feature the patented LD/HP Magnetic Circuit Design. This design, when compared to conventional Loudspeaker Drivers, reduces distortion significantly. It also increases power handling and efficiency. The rear vent through the magnetic assembly offers improved heat dissipation. The die cast basket has an open air area under the voice coil/spider assembly to prevent displacement noise. The polypropylene cone with a rubber surround has a four layer copper voice coil and is rigid to perform as a near perfect air piston. Altogether these advances in woofer design construction and materials produce the very important first several octaves of music, with a high degree of accuracy and superb transient response. The two inch Midrange Drivers and the three-quarter inch Dome Super Tweeter all use this Alloy. The Neodymium-Iron-Boron Alloy has the highest flux density per unit of volume. This allows for a smaller physical size driver and thus closer driver to driver placement for improved dispersion.

Low Harmonic and Intermodulation Distortion

Center channel speakers are often considered the most underrated speakers in a home theater because they handle so much of the content yet are designed as afterthoughts by many audio brands. The SVS Prime Center accepts no compromises and anchors the front soundstage of a 5.1 home theater surround sound system or other set-ups with precision and power that complements even the most high-end multi-channel systems.

Well-equipped to play the most important role in a surround sound home theater, every aspect of the Prime Center speaker was designed for sonic excellence. Since center channel speakers handle a large percentage of the audio content, including dialogue and vocals, and much of that sound falls within the mid-range, SVS engineered an incredibly light and rigid polypropylene cone for the Prime Center speaker’s mid-range driver to provide a flat frequency response and to generate the SPL necessary for stunning in-room dynamics and an expansive front soundstage. The mid-range driver is also housed in its own sub-enclosure within the cabinet to ensure there’s no modulation from the robust woofers.

The 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter is light, efficient, and rigid, playing crystal clear at high volumes for a sense of utter transparency, while offering an ‘airy’ presentation and incredibly unveiled highs so female vocals and dialogue always sound crisp, smooth and clear. The potent 5.25-inch woofers are built on an all-new cast ABS-fiberglass composite basket for precise component alignment and an inert frame without resonances or added harmonics. The light and rigid cone material render a flat frequency response and deliver deep and authoritative low frequency playback. Providing the perfectly balanced voicing for the Prime Center speaker is a proprietary SVS SoundMatch crossover that sports premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors, and heavy-trace printed circuit boards.
